Animal-Cruelty in Cosmetics...

The FDA does NOT require cosmetics companies to test on animals, but it still legal. And believe it or not, many companies do not test on our furry friends. But at the same time, the FDA does not allow potential unsafe products to be sold to the mass population.

So the question is: How do we know products are safe? Simply, many of ingredients were used before in other products that already have been tested or have a history of safe-use. The only problem is when companies want to introduce a new ingredient for a product then it does need to be tested.

Testing on animals is EXTREMELY CRUEL!

This picture above shows a method where the chemicals are rubbed onto shaved skin or dripped into the eyes. Rabbits are usually used for this testing and aren't given any pain relievers so they suffer terribly.

Another is force-feeding the animal the new chemicals to see if the chemical will cause an unsafe reaction. Sometimes it goes so far to see if an ingredient is deadly or not.

Animals usually used in testing: rabbits, mice, rats, guinea pigs

Luckily, there are new methods emerging to test products without using our furry pals. But we need to ensure their safety. Join any of the following movements to push toward legislative and policy initiatives to stop the violation of our animals.
